That list doesn't include all the reference books and Bibles I use for
my regular study, the material for my regular small group meeting or the
curriculum for the adult Sunday school I teach.
Sometimes, I think my office is a microcosm of life. A series of
projects finished, postponed, partway done and to be done along with some of
the tools needed to tackle those projects.
I've often wondered what God's desk must look like. Somehow, I suspect
that it isn't nearly as cluttered. He's the God who created the universe and
everything in it with a word. He can handle all the prayers of the world,
past, present and future in a heartbeat. He knows all about everyone of us
and every choice we have made and will make and He knew it before we were
ever even conceived.
He doesn't need packing tape because He needs no help to repair the
hurts of life. He doesn't need a hammer and nail-in clamps because He never
needed to second-guess an installation.
He doesn't need a stack of books, tapes and Cd’s because He already
knows it all.
He doesn't forget the name of someone on a piece of paper because He
knows each of us intimately. He knows us better than we know ourselves. He
knows our shortfalls and He knows the potential He has given each of us.
He doesn't need a wheat bag because there is no pain in heaven.
He doesn't need a perpetual motion toy, because He created all motion
and has galaxies beyond my comprehension at His beck and call.
Even if God needed a desk, anything on it would be beyond what I could
ever hope to comprehend.
I'm always amazed to think that a God that big cares so much about the
daily lives of people who seem so insignificant in the grand scheme of the
universe. He not only cares in a general sense, He knows all the details.
Whatever pile of half completed tasks you have in your life, know that
God never leaves a task partially done. He is watching you, He is listening
to you and He cares for you deeply.
Until next time, rejoice in His love and be thankful that His desk
doesn't look like mine.
Be blessed
Hallelu Yah (Praise God)!
