We celebrate the
"newness" of the NEW YEAR. We
celebrate new opportunities, and great
potential. There's a newness that is
far more worth celebrating than the
potential of the coming year.
So from now
on we regard no one from a worldly
point of view. Though we once
regarded Christ in this way, we do
so no longer. Therefore, if anyone
is in Christ, he is a new creation;
the old has gone, the new has come!
2 Corinthians 5:16-17 NIV
Praise be
to the God and Father of our Lord
Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he
has given us new birth into a living
hope through the resurrection of
Jesus Christ from the dead, and into
an inheritance that can never
perish, spoil or fade--kept in
heaven for you, who through faith
are shielded by God's power until
the coming of the salvation that is
ready to be revealed in the last
time
1 Peter 1:3-5 NIV
If you have
Jesus as savior, you are born again.
You are created new. You are no longer
under condemnation or judgment. You
are free to become all that the Lord
designed you to be. You're snatched
from the fires of hell and yes those
fires are very real and eternal.
Those are things
worth celebrating. 2005 will turn into
2006, 2007 and onwards just like
clockwork unless the Lord returns in
the interim. Each turning of the year
will seem to offer the promise of
change, but as a child of God you
already have received the most
important change there is. Best of
all, it is a permanent and ongoing
change.
Until next time,
by all means celebrate the coming New
Year if you wish, but don't neglect
celebrating the God who made a new
you.
