Hello. Let me introduce myself and tell you a little of my background. I was born in 1969. When I was six years old, I was hit by a car and rendered a quadriplegic. The doctors told my parents that I would be a ''humorless vegetable" all my life since I was hit in the emotional zone. But here I am sitting looking at the tire tracks on the walls from my parents who tell me all the time, ''You drive me up the wall!"
After the accident, I spent nine months in a semi-coma. Recovery was slow. I was in the Centaur Therapeutic Riding Program which teaches the handicapped balance and helps return the ability to walk with the aid of horses. I have not been able to fully walk again, but I will never give up! The accident left many scars in my life, but nothing will keep me from smiling!
My love for art began in grade school. I learned to draw pictures on the typewriter using the letter x. Then I learned to make ''x pictures" with a magic marker, and one of them was used as the main logo for the Very Special Arts Festival held at the Cleveland Health Education Museum. That logo was posted everywhere! It was on pins, T-shirts, sweat shirts and grocery bags. It was even on the 30 foot banner at the Festival. My logo was published in the Plain Dealer Friday Magazine and other local newspapers. My art was off to a splendid start!
In high school, I painted sun catchers which were recognized by The National Council for Exceptional Children with the ''Yes, I Can" award for artwork! I received a congratulatory letter from President Ronald Reagan, I was featured on The TV show ''Discover Columbus," and newspapers around Ohio highlighted me and my artwork!
Today, I work at Wal-Mart, I have a job drawing comics for Job Talk, and I''ve had a job for the last 14 years with the only working Junior Achievement Company in the Greater Cleveland Area. (All our workers are handicapped. We make sturdy, colorful metal coat hangers.) Did I mention that I also do needlepoint?
I am proof that amazing things will happen when you have God in your life!
I have been looking for a company to make a watch I have designed. On my computer I made a picture of Jesus with a star over His head. Below Him it says "HE COULD COME AT ANY TIME." It took a long time, but it finally happened; ''the watches were born in the year 2001!" through the efforts of a man and a lady. The lady very mysteriously died after SCUBA diving, so I''m dedicating this chapter of my life to LINDA WEST. The watch was right in saying HE COULD COME AT ANY TIME, because He did. He came for Linda.
