Gleanings From The Word

Experience an extraordinary God in ordinary Life

/Panic

I awoke this morning a little later than normal. I didn't wake up until 6:00, but that wasn't a big deal, I had planned to sleep in a little because I have been feeling a little tired. I rolled over, opened my eyes again and it was after 8:00. I was in instant panic!

I stumbled out of bed, frantically looking for my glasses and my pants. It's garbage day and I hadn't put the garbage out yet. The guy from Habitat From Humanity is coming to pick up the windows and I hadn't dug them out of the garage yet. I hadn't written Gleanings yet and people are coming over this morning.

As I stumbled to get dressed and headed down stairs, I passed Kathy who is sitting contentedly reading her Bible and enjoying a cup of coffee. Seeing the panic on my face, she wanted to now what the problem is. Stuttering and stammering, I tried to explain. She replied, "You wanted to sleep in a little."

A little yes, but not this late!

The garbage is out, the windows are ready for pickup and I'm starting to breath almost normally again.

Oh yes ... God. I didn't stop to read my Bible. I didn't stop to pray, unless you count my frantic "Oh God, don't let the garbage guys have been early today." No wonder I'm all out of sorts.

Every now and then we have those moments where we forget where the source of our strength and abilities come from. We loose our minds temporarily and forget to turn to God for help.

David would have been in a mess if he say Goliath and panicked instead of trusting God.

Moses would have been killed if he hadn't remembered to trust God to part the Red Sea.

The priests would have stayed on the wrong side of the Jordan for years if they had panicked instead of trusting God to step into the Jordan River as they were told.

Perhaps your panic isn't life threatening or wasn’t impact you for all eternity, but it's still a good idea to stop for a moment and give it to God.

I lift up my eyes to the hills--where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth. Psalm 121:1-2 NIV

for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live. 1 Corinthians 8:6 NIV <

I can do everything through him who gives me strength. Philippians 4:13 NIV

Until next time, don't follow my bad example from this morning. Take the time to catch your breath and give it all over to God.

Be blessed.

Hallelu Yah (Praise God)!

Kevin

Did you know God's forgiveness and unconditional love is available for anyone who asks?
